LAUREL -- When the new Neel-Schaffer-designed $596,900 Laurel Transfer Station opened June 30, it was the end of a decade-long saga that had challenged city officials.
"This transfer station is one of the best designed stations in the country," said M.L. Bush, chairman and CEO of Enviro, a solid waste service provider to the city of Laurel. "It makes our job easier, that's for sure."
The new 2,550-square-foot facility was the final piece of the puzzle to improve solid waste efficiency in Jones County and required close collaboration between construction industry professionals and elected officials.
