A church builder is busy onsite building a new sanctuary when, one by one, members of the church's building committee stop by to give their input. One person believes substitute material should be used, material that could be supplied by a church member, perhaps. Another one thinks the color of the paint should be different. Yet another building committee member calls attention to a minor project detail.

Truth or fiction? Too often, church-building projects can become a nightmare--for the church and the contractor.

"Some contractors don't want to build a project of any kind when it's done by a committee," said Perry Nations, executive director of Associated General Contractors of Mississippi (AGC).
