Whirlpool Corporation recently unveiled plans for an expansion of its operations in North America that will not only benefit Mississippi in the near-term, but also bodes well for us on down the road, a reason for optimism about our future.

Here in the Magnolia State, the appliance manufacturer is beefing up production at its plant in Oxford. Whirlpool did not say if this production increase would mean more jobs for North Mississippi, but any positive news regarding the state's manufacturing sector is cause for celebration.

And there is more good news, this time from the Buckeye State. Whirlpool announced that it was shifting production of appliances currently manufactured at a plant in Monterrey, Mexico, to a facility in Clyde, Ohio.
