McMINNVILLE - No college football team in the country can boast a banner like the one that's adorned the side of the bleachers at Linfield's Maxwell Field.

It reads, `National Collegiate Record for Consecutive Winning Seasons 1956 to Present.'

The winning tradition at Linfield is a pervasive force that quickly turns newcomers into lifelong believers of the Wildcats.

Just ask James Wilson.

Wilson, a 2000 Thurston High School graduate, didn't know what to expect when he arrived on campus in hopes of playing defensive back.

`I had heard about it, but once you're here and you experience the Linfield tradition, it just becomes a part of you,' Wilson said. `After that first season, I was hooked. I knew this was the right place for me.'

Wilson never made it onto the Linfield defense....
