SYCAMORE - Dundee-Crown coach Lance Huber is one of those glass- half-full type of coaches who looked down his bench before the Strombom Tournament title game Saturday, saw top guard C.C. Kilbert in street clothes and thought of all the good playing experience the younger Chargers would get.

The problem was host Sycamore had no use for half-full glasses.

The Spartans' cup runneth over all night Saturday thanks to layups, offensive rebounds and D-C turnovers that resulted in Sycamore's 78-57 win. It was the Spartans' third consecutive Strombom tournament title and its second straight title-game win against D-C.

Beginning in the middle of the second quarter, Sycamore's defensive pressure began wearing on the Chargers' younger guards. D-C (2-1) committed 31 turnovers in the game and gave up 24 offensive rebounds, allowing the Spartans (3-0) nearly twice as many scoring opportunities.

"We have to take care of the ball better," Huber said. "That is more difficult when your best guard is on the bench. It's hard to overcome that. Our young kids are going to be all right, but they got a lesson in varsity basketball (Saturday) and they're going to get better from it."
