The Bartlett Thanksgiving Tournament epitomized the idea of giving for the Hoffman Estates Hawks (3-0) as they gave all three opponents a thorough whooping en route to the championship trophy.

On Saturday against Bartlett, Hoffman cruised to an 83-40 victory, capping a week in which they outscored their opponents by an average of 34 points.

But the highlight of the championship game was not a play by either of their two stars - Bryan Mead (21 points, 5 rebounds) or Jonny Reibel (19 points, 6 assists) -it was an easy layup with the game well in hand in the fourth quarter.

With only minutes remaining on the clock Brett Lukowicz (6 points) delivered a sharp bounce pass to his brother Jeremie, who converted the easy layup and sent the Hoffman crowd into a fevered frenzy.

"This year we came into (the tournament) with a good group of guys and its not like the other teams can't compete, it just that we have a lot of offensive firepower," Hoffman coach Bill Wandro said. "Our third line played great for us in the fourth, it was great to see."
