It didn't take long for Wheaton North to see how East Aurora came into the 46th annual St. Charles Thanksgiving boys basketball tournament championship game averaging 82 points a game.

The Tomcats blitzed Wheaton North with a 30-point first quarter, forcing several turnovers that led to layups and dunks on their way to a 79-59 victory Saturday. It is East Aurora's second straight championship at St. Charles East.

The Falcons (3-1) trailed 30-18 after the first quarter, 44-30 at halftime and never got closer in the second half.

"The first half we needed to handle the ball better," Wheaton North coach Jim Nazos said. "They are a good team. They are skilled, they play hard, they're very unselfish. That's a very good East Aurora team that's going to get a lot of wins this year."

Trailing 22-11, Wheaton North scored 7 straight points to pull within 22-18 with under a minute left in the first quarter. But East Aurora (4-0) scored 8 points in that final minute to go...
