SAN FRANCISCO -- AMERICAN SHARED HOSPITAL SERVICES (NYSE AMEX:AMS), a leading provider of turnkey technology solutions for advanced radiosurgical and radiation therapy services, today announced financial results for the third quarter and first nine months of 2009.

Third Quarter Results

For the three months ended September 30, 2009, revenue decreased to $3,926,000 compared to $4,532,000 for the third quarter of 2008. Net income for the third quarter of 2009 was $17,000, or $0.00 per diluted share, which included transaction costs of $22,000 incurred during the quarter. This compares to net income of $25,000, or $0.00 per diluted share, for the third quarter of 2008.

The total number of Gamma Knife procedures performed during this year's third quarter was unchanged versus prior year. Primarily reflecting normal fluctuations in the mix of business, revenue decreased due to a shift in volume toward centers with relatively lower payment rates per procedure compared to the third quarter...
