Asda secured victory once again this week after providing 20 of the cheapest or joint-cheapest items and comfortably undercutting nearest rival Tesco by 1.38. [pounds sterling]

The retailer made six reductions, the most dramatic a 42p cut on the pineapple thanks to a new promotion. It also made three hikes, however, pushing Cathedral City Mature Cheddar up 29p, tomatoes up 53p/kg and soft scoop vanilla ice cream up 6p.
