COTTAGE GROVE - No one said trying to vaccinate 170,000 or so people against the H1N1 virus in the midst of a pandemic would be easy - not with the vaccine in short supply, and not with public demand for the shots seeming to grow by the day.

But Monday's vaccination clinic in Cottage Grove proved especially challenging for Lane County Public Health officials, at least until it came time to dispense the shots. That part went smoothly, as a group of four nurses vaccinated about 250 people, as many as they could do in three hours.

It was the queuing for the clinic that proved problematic.
