After sending a delegation of five representatives from the city to NLC's first-ever Green Cities Conference, Rapid City, S.D., has an increased enthusiasm and a renewed focus on sustainability issues. Council members Patti Martinson, Aaron Costello and Karen Gunderson Olson, as well as Public Works Director Robert Ellis and Growth Management Director Marcia Elkins, all participated in the conference, held April 19-21 in Portland, Ore.
