One of the more urgent unfilled needs of the U.S. Army is for a standalone rapid response missile that can attack non-line-of-sight stationary or moving targets. Such a missile, the EFOGM, (Enhanced Fiber Optic Guided Missile) was developed under sponsorship of the U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Systems laboratory, AMRDEC, at the Redstone Arsenal, Alabama, and demonstrated 20 years ago.
