George A. Hall died 28 February 2008 after a long struggle with Parkinson's disease. George was born in Parkersburg, West Virginia on 16 June 1920. He grew up in western Pennsylvania. Earning the B.S. degree in Chemistry from West Virginia University (WVU) in 1941 and a Ph.D. in Chemistry at The Ohio State University in 1945, he did postdoctoral research at the University of Wisconsin before his appointment as Assistant Professor in Chemistry at WVU in 1950.
