Pan-Arab Talks With 'Good Neighbour' Iran Urged.

The six Arab Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) foreign ministers on Sept. 1 ended their 112th meeting in Jeddah with a call for a "continuation of friendly and neighbourly relations with Iran". This coincided with a call by the Arab League's Secretary-General Amr Moussa for pan-Arab talks with Iran "as a good neighbour". Guided by Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud al-Faisal, who earlier this year said any relationship Iran established or wanted to have in any Arab country "must be within the recognised legitimacy and sovereignty" of that state, Moussa said the League's 22 member-states should agree on a common approach to Tehran and then collectively talk with the Iranian government and setting mutually agreed criteria for "good neighbourly" relations.
