Agents with the U.S. Secret Service call it "carding" -- buying stolen credit card account information on the Internet and using it to steal money from account holders.

But a group of Twin Cities Nigerian immigrants allegedly added a twist: Using that money to buy expensive cars at local auto auctions, then shipping those cars to Nigeria to sell at an even greater profit.

Late last week, federal agents drove a spike into the local operation, charging 11 people in federal court with fraud for a counterfeit credit card scam that allegedly netted them more than $650,000 over the past 15 months.
