This is the latest in a series of books resulting from "invitational workshops" organized by the Kinsey Institute for Research in Sex, Gender, and Reproduction. Based on a theme, each workshop brings together a select group of researchers, typically those doing "cutting-edge" work in the area. The goal is "to present up-to-date reviews, discuss commonalities and differences in conceptual and methodological approaches, and generate ideas and suggestions for future research" (p. xi). The workshops' format comprises several sessions to include invited presentations and discussants, followed by an open debate, which is recorded and included in the book.
