Technology has enhanced and facilitated teaching and learning in my creative dance course at Virginia Tech. This technology includes the course web site, You Tube, software programs, the iPod, and the cell phone. The following paragraphs outline some of the ways in which these technologies are helpful.

Course Web Site

In addition to posting the usual class materials on the course web site, dance teachers are able to upload music to be used for in-class assignments. This enables students to familiarize themselves with the music before encountering it in class. Outside of class they can prepare and practice their dances to the same music used in class. Video clips of dance elements and examples of class assignments can also be uploaded to the course web site to supplement the in-class experience. No longer is class time usurped by passive activities such as viewing dance examples....
