According to a study from Vila Real, Portugal, "The golden potato cyst nematode, Globodera rostochiensis (Woll) is responsible for large yield losses in potato crops in northern Portugal. Fumigation with synthetic chemicals controls this soil pest with possible negative impact on the environment."
