Alcatel-Lucent announced that they have been selected by Regensburger Telekommunikationsgesellschaft GmbH&Co.KG (R-KOM) to be its sole supplier, in a multiyear frame agreement, for the deployment of a fiber-based access network in eastern Bavaria.

R-KOM will use Alcatel-Lucent's GPON technology and has opted for a mixed FTTB (fiber-to-the-building) and FTTH (fiber-to-the-home) architecture, depending on the rollout area.

Infrastructure development is set to start in the next few weeks, with the first 4,000 households...
