THE MATH IS A BIT CONVOLUTED, but if you're looking for your soul mate, it boils down to this: you'll need to date about ten people to find "the one." Throw in a couple extra for good measure, sure, but don't go overboard--too many choices will leave you with overarching expectations and unsatisfying results.
To children (or grandchildren) of the Great Depression-era logic that exalts the value of the "leave no stone unturned" bargain hunt, it probably seems a bit backwards, but while digging up the best deal may make good financial sense, it's bad advice for seekers of wedded bliss.
