Almost five years ago, shovels plunged into dirt on land adjacent to Interstate 20 in Pearl. Less than a year later, Mississippi had a Double A baseball team whose parent club, the Atlanta Braves, is as popular as some of the college sports teams in Mississippi.

A year after that, in May 2006, the state's first BassPro Shops opened to a literal stampede of customers.

Those two cornerstones have made the Bloomfield development a destination location.
