The stretch of Interstate 10 along the Mississippi Gulf Coast that has become known as the Aerospace Corridor had its beginning in the 1960s, when the Stennis Space Center was built.

More recent developments to firm up the name include Rolls Royce starting next-generation Space Shuttle engine testing programs at Stennis and Northrop Grumman building an unmanned flight systems center in Moss Point.

While significant, those two projects will most likely pale in comparison if Northrop Grumman and its aerospace arm European Aeronautic Defense and Space company land a contract from the U.S. Department of Defense to build an entire fleet of refueling tanker aircraft for the Air Force.
