The timeless message of silence.

It's the end of a long and busy day; you're tired, and you wonder if you have really reached anyone today. You've taught, you've instructed, and you've encouraged and corrected, and yet you wonder if anything you've done has made a difference in the lives you've touched. When you deal with a chronic population of individuals over time, when you see the same people make the same choices over and over again, often with the same poor outcomes, in spite of education you know you've imparted, it's easy to become discouraged and retreat into silence. After all, it appears as though no one is listening; certainly, the inconsistency of progress seems to send that message. However, there is another message--the message our silence sends.
