In May 2007, Jim Coggin, a native of Tupelo and long time Jackson resident, retired as President and Chief Administrative Officer of Saks Incorporated and member of the Board of Directors. He attained his bachelor's degree in General Business from Mississippi State University and later received a MBA degree from Mississippi College. He also is a graduate of the Harvard Advanced Management Program.

Following college, Jim served as a U.S. Army commissioned officer for two years' active duty including a one-year tour in Vietnam with the 6th Battalion 27th Artillery and was awarded the Bronze Star for meritorious achievement in ground operations against hostile forces.
