The mission of Junior Achievement of Mississippi (JA) is to educate, inspire and prepare young people to succeed in a global economy.
JA is the world's largest organization dedicated to educating students about work readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy through experiential, hands-on programs. Junior Achievement brings the real world to students, opening their minds to their potential by bridging the business and educational communities.
Through volunteer business men and women, Junior Achievement presents its premiere age-appropriate curricula, beginning at the elementary school level. JA's economic education programs teach children how they can impact the world around them as individuals, workers and consumers. JA programs continue through the middle grades and high school, focusing on the key content areas of entrepreneurship, work readiness and financial literacy.
Special delivery
Junior Achievement's unique program delivery by volunteer business role models sets JA apart from any other method of economic education. As they share JA's educational materials and activities, volunteers who have succeeded in business themselves open a whole world of possibilities to children and youth.
In May 1990, the first laureates were inducted into Junior Achievement's Mississippi Business Hall of Fame. The passing years have not diminished the prestige and ceremony of the occasion. Excitement continues to surround this tribute to Mississippi's leading business men and women. With the induction of at least four new laureates every year since 1990, the past laureates of the Mississippi Business Hall of Fame have greatly increased in number.
