Mark Twain called golf "a good walk spoiled."

But plenty of Mount Pisgah hikers would rather play a maddening, 18-hole round than return to their vehicle after a day in the sun to find their windows busted and their valuables gone.

Over the years, criminals have spoiled many a good walk at the bucolic county park south of Springfield.

"Every (parking area) you go to out here, you see broken glass on the ground," Eugene resident Darcy Hannibal said Saturday after a trek along Pisgah's trails.
