It might be the country living, the strong values he learned at an early age, the sense of community responsibility he's grown up with, or some combination of them all. But no matter who you ask about Pleasant Hill High School graduating senior Mike Baker, they're all going to say the same thing.

That he's a hard worker.

The 17-year-old Baker is a lot of other things: an accomplished athlete, an excellent student, a caring volunteer - even a bit of a ham if it's for the right cause. But people seem to think of him first and foremost as someone who values a strong work ethic and backs it up with his own actions.

"He's a great all-around young man," school administrator and senior advisor Noelle D'Agosta says. "He runs cross-country and track, he works at the feed store here in town....
