And five more tickets to the national championships.

That was the final tally turned in by the Oregon men's track and field team at the NCAA West Region Championships on Friday before a crowd of 4,417 at Hayward Field.

The Ducks are trying to advance as many athletes as possible to the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, June 10-13, in Fayetteville, Ark., as they eye the final leg of the triple crown, which includes national titles in cross country, indoor track and outdoor track.

They took care of business in the 5,000 meters as UO senior Galen Rupp broke away from a tight pack of seven runners with a blistering lap of 59 seconds with 800 meters to go. He coasted across the finish line with a winning time of 13 minutes, 46.41 seconds.
