THE WORLD STEEL ASSOCIATION, Brussels, Belgium, forecasts that worldwide apparent steel use will decline by 14.9 percent to about 1.02 billion metric tons in 2009, on top of the 1.4 percent decline in 2008. WSA expects steel demand to stabilize in late 2009, however, leading to a mild recovery in 2010.
