Cellular South has high hopes for summer releases.

Blockbuster electronics rollouts have become something of an American summer institution. While Hollywood executives are hoping this year's round robin of explosive action films will suck in audiences suffering from the recession blues, retail giants from Sprint to Apple can't wait to unveil their newest gadgets and gizmos for the hungry consumer.

"We look at all types of the year," says Wade Smith, director of product development and management for Jackson-based Cellular South, one of the nation's largest privately held wireless companies. Smith says they are offering a number of new devices this year after months of testing and triple checking software and network capabilities. "We pay very close attention to our market segments and advertise accordingly," he says.
