Lawmakers are taking quick action to improve the lives of women veterans, military retirees and families of severely disabled veterans with legislation introduced early in the 111th Congress.

Two similar bills, the Women Veterans Health Care Improvement Act, would expand and improve VA health care for women veterans, particularly, those who have served in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. At the same time, another bill was introduced to offer assistance to women and homeless veterans with children.
