Even hard-core fans acknowledge that Pontiac's glory days are long gone, but that doesn't ease the pain in seeing a storied brand get towed into the automotive graveyard.

General Motors announced this week that it would kill the 83-year-old Pontiac division at the end of 2010. To demonstrate that it is serious about restructuring and persuade the government to loan it more money, the car maker is cutting jobs, closing factories and eliminating dealerships in a desperate bid to ride out the economic storm. GM has until June 1 to complete a restructuring or face bankruptcy.
