PLEASANT HILL - Pleasant Hill's performance was as ugly as the weather on Tuesday afternoon.

The fifth-ranked Billies survived two rain delays for approximately 55 minutes, but couldn't overcome five errors against visiting Cottage Grove.

The Lions, who were held to only four hits, capitalized on numerous miscues by Pleasant Hill to give the Billies their first Sky-Em League loss of the season, 6-4.

"We made all the mistakes," said Pleasant Hill coach Steve Smith, whose team's eight-game winning streak was snapped.

The Billies (6-1 Sky-Em) also left nine runners on base, including six in scoring position. However, their defensive struggles were just as costly.

Cottage Grove (4-2) scored two runs on virtually the same play - and Pleasant Hill error - in the sixth inning, including what turned out to be the game-winning run by Stephan Beach.

With Beach on first base and Brian Dunn on second, batter Torrence Oosthoff acted like he was going to bunt....
