This book has a most unfortunate and misleading title. It is not about Doukhobors per se, but documents only the actions of a radical Doukhobor subgroup known as the Sons of Freedom. Mainline or orthodox Doukhobors will be chagrined by yet another attempt to malign their faith by this misrepresentation. Cran's attempt to gain a reading audience by sensationalizing the book's title is regrettable and falls into the category of negatively slanted literature about Doukhobors long ago penned by Hazel O'Neail in 1962 (Doukhobor Daze), and Simma Holt in 1964 (Terror in the...
