Another local youth fishing event to be held Saturday

The second in a series of three free "youth fishing events" to be held in the southern Willamette Valley this spring will take place Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Garden Lake pond in Creswell. Sponsored by the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife, the event features free use of loaner tackle, free bait, and plenty of volunteers to help kids learn the basics of fishing. They'll even clean the kids' fish for them. The pond will be stocked with hundreds of hatchery rainbow trout just before the event.

Two local nature groups to hold egg events Saturday

Two non-profit nature groups will get in the spirit of the season with egg-related educational events Saturday. Nearby Nature will hold its annual "egg walk" from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Alton Baker Park. The guided nature walk features an assortment of animals that hatch from eggs in the spring, Participants also meet costumed "critters" and make egg critter crafts. Each hike lasts an hour, and advance registration is required....
