United States Steel Corp. has taken further steps to consolidate operations in the difficult manufacturing environment. The Pittsburgh-based steelmaker said it will temporarily idle finishing and coking operations at Hamilton, Ont., and steelmaking and finishing operations at Lake Erie Works near Nanticoke, Ont.
