THE rain begins to pelt down as I turn off Grafton Street into what has to be the dodgiest laneway in Dublin. I step around container bins and random debris and walk towards the end where two black-clad men are shrouded in cigarette smoke.
Despite the less than glamorous surroundings there is a pep in my step, a smile on my face and the chorus of a Disney song called Fabulous is running through my head.
At the end of the lane, I almost explode with excitement. Gaiety Theatre, Stage Door. I take a deep breath and prepare to make my grand entrance.
Today, I'm going to be a part of the world's hottest stage show, High School Musical.
At the age of 27, I have finally arrived - and I'm doing it Disneystyle! For as long as I can remember, I've loved musicals. I spent 17 years as a member of the shiny, happy and, yes I know, supremelyirritating Billie Barry Kids.
There, I learned to sing, dance and smile continuously for as long as is necessary.
