Mixed in with several rows of fans standing in "Fowl Territory" along the first-base line at PK Park, Dave Roberts cheered on the Oregon batter with two outs in the bottom of the ninth.

"Come on kid," Roberts said. "Be a hero."

It's a position with which Roberts himself was quite familiar during his days as a star player for the Ducks in the early 1970s.

Roberts' name is perhaps the most recognizable in Oregon baseball history, and while he couldn't name the kid at the plate with the game on the line (it was Andrew Schmidt), Roberts had plenty of reasons to celebrate Friday in the Ducks' 1-0 win over Fresno...
