Rosita Abing

Rosita Rico Ysern Abing of Veneta died Feb. 19 of age-related causes at age 80. No service is planned.

She was born Jan. 1, 1929, in La Corlota, Philippines, to Juan and Susima Rico Ysern. She married Francisco Abing on Feb. 7, 1949, in La Corlota, Negros, P.I. He died Aug. 12, 1964.

She attended school through the eighth grade at La Carlota, Negros Occidental, Provence, P.I. She was a housekeeper on a sugar cane and rice plantation in Cebu, Philippines. During World War II she provided food and medicine to U.S. and Filipino forces.

Survivors include a son, Dioniscio Abing of Astoria; two daughters, Jo Gillum of Astoria and Mary Kunis of Portland; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Arrangements by Lane Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home in Eugene. Remembrances to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.

Va Ai

Va Ai of Eugene died Feb. 20 of pneumonia at age 57.

She was born April 3, 1951, in Cambodia to Sy and Tai Yen Chea.

She atten ded school in Cambodia and owned Chinese food restaurants.

Survivors include two sons, Charlesa Muoy and Sonny Muoy, both of Eugene; two brothers; four sisters; and life partner Pete Lor.

Services will be held in California. Burial will be at Rose Hills Cemetery in Whittier, Calif. Arrangements by Poole-Larsen Funeral Home in Eugene.

Gertrude Albro

Gertrude Mary Albro of Eugene died Feb. 17 of age-related causes at age 90. A celebration of life will be later.

She was born Jan. 29, 1919, in Eugene to Guy and Eva Hudson Knox. She married Merl J. Albro on Nov. 27, 1937, in Eugene. He died May 20, 2000.
