David J. Maguire figures Veyance Technologies Inc. has gained an advantage over its competitors now that construction of the firm's state-of-the-art innovation center is complete.
"Most of our business people are located here, so a lot of the decisions about what products we're going to develop are made right here, according to Maguire, vice president of global technology and head of the center.
In addition, most purchasing for material development is done at the site, neighboring Akron is a good location for handling rubber development and numerous experienced technical people are located in the area, he said.
The company worked on the three-story addition to its headquarters building from December 2007 until it officially opened Dec. 1, 2008. But some sections actually have been in use since August when technical staff members moved in.
