Since its founding 45 years ago, Yates Construction Company has been an industry leader. More recently the company has also become a leader in green construction.

"The biggest reason Yates is utilizing green construction concepts is the fact that it is responsible building," said marketing director Jared Fuller. "Many of our current clients are incorporating green building concepts in their projects and it is our responsibility to meet their construction needs."

To further that commitment to green building, in 2004 Yates established an in-house sustainable services department. With a master of science degree in building technology from Sweden, Lazarri became director of sustainable services in 2006 after being involved with quality management for the company. That was the same year he and Jackson architect Perry Richardson established the Mississippi Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council.
