Article Excerpt The plant floor is a busy place, humming with data generated by machines, ovens, robots, tooling equipment, lines, and, in the process world, vats and mixers. Increasingly, this factory-floor data is integrated with the manufacturing execution system (MES) and enterprise systems that manage the plant.
