Although primarily designed to attract large conventions and trade shows, the planned expansion of New York's Jacob Javits Convention Center also is expected to have a positive impact on the city's corporate meetings business. Yet, there is plenty of frustration to go around as the expansion faces possible further delay caused by controversy over the proposed construction of an adjacent football stadium for the New York Jets.

The long-awaited $1.4 billion expansion of the facility on Manhattan's West Side was set to go forward last spring when proposed legislation backed by Governor George Pataki and Mayor Michael Bloomberg sought to link the project with the stadium, which would provide additional convention space for the Javits Center.
