Developers are investing in and converting existing New York hotels to offer renewed appeal in what remains a highly competitive market with construction of full-service properties at a minimum. The most recent example occurred in July when Sol Melia Hotels & Resorts, in conjunction with The Rank Group PLC, said it will convert the 600-room Paramount Hotel on West 46th St. to the Hard Rock Hotel New York.
