Globalization, a curse word? Recently, at the Aspen Global Leadership conference, David Rubenstein, co-founder of The Carlyle Group, declared that globalization has lost credibility-and is even a "curse word" in some circles as a result of the unprecedented economic troubles in the US. He added that he believed "there has been a setback to globalization for at least a generation."
This is coming from an executive whose employer has offices in nearly 20 different countries, according to Carlyle's website; a firm that on the last day in June, put the finishing touches on a $1.04 billion fund targeting growth companies in Asia and whose last three transactions, completed in mid-June, came from Germany, France and Poland.
