What firms look for in this market are experienced leaders who have a track record of success with troubled companies. This is a time when many candidates are in the job market so employers are tempted to hire from the pool of candidates coming to them. Caution is required on the part of those hiring as it is tempting to quickly hire from this talent pool when the skills you need may not match those of these active candidates.

Having a clear picture of what you need before you start interviewing is critical. And, while it may be tougher to lure a talented person from an existing job, every position counts in this economy.
