During the past decade, American consumers have increasingly gravitated toward wine and higher-end beers, such as imports and craft beer brands, and for the folks at Freeman Beverage Co., Inc., this trend only spells success. Freeman Beverage, based in Fredericksburg, Va., USA, has the unique position of being a combined beer, wine and non-alcohol beverage distributor and this diversification has suited the company well in its 75-year history, especially during the economic downturn.
"If beer softens up, then wine and soft drinks can carry us. And, conversely, if the wine business softens up, then the beer business can carry the day. So it's a business model that works pretty well," Bruce Davis, vice president/partial owner of Freeman Beverage Co., Inc. says.
