Cloverdale is a small California town 90 miles north of San Francisco where Larry Erickson's dad ran the local service station and garage. He learned a lot about fixing and modifying cars during his childhood, and spent a lot of time drawing pictures of cars, trucks, and just about anything that moved on wheels under its own power, but knew that he would have to leave the bucolic surroundings if he was to accomplish anything other than following in his father's footsteps. "It was a beautiful place to grow up," he says, "but I felt the need to leave if I was going to get anywhere in life."
