The Billerica, Mass.-based company hired Morgan Stanley & Co. as an adviser as it considers its options, which may involve partnership agreements, the sale or spin off of business lines, or an outright sale of the company.
Soapstone, formerly known as Avici Systems, provides high-speed data networking equipment and routing solutions. As of early March, the company's shares were trading in the low $3.00 range, representing a market cap of $45 million. The company was founded by Larry Dennison, who left last year.
