Telephone sales expert Art Sobczak tells the tale of a "sounding-too-cocky sales rep" that at the start of the call mispronounced his name. The sales rep compounded the error by immediately launching into a sales pitch.

The pitch, according to Mr. Sobczak, went like this: "I'm Pete Johnson with Nationwide Internet and I'd like to tell you about how we could speed up your Internet connection. I'd like to stop by next Tuesday and show you how we could do this. Would one or four in the afternoon be better for you?"

This rep, Mr. Sobczak continued, made several major mistakes for a telephone sales person.
